Inclusion In The European Standard List -AEM’s High-Reliability Solid Body Fuses Added To European Preferred Parts List (EPPL)

The semiconductor fuses of the product line FM12 (QPL) of the Californian component manufacturer AEM were selected by the European Space Components Coordination(ESCC) for inclusion in the European standard parts list (EPPL), which is a milestone of AEM’s commitment to quality ; 30-year zero-defects history is unrivaled in industry.
The FM12 Series fuses, also included on the Defense Logistics Agency Qualified Products List (QPL), are intended for use in a wide variety of aerospace applications that require the highest level of reliability.

The semiconductor fuses are equipped with a precise thick-film melt element with a glass arc suppression system which ensures that arc, plasma and steam are trapped inside the fuse housing under overload conditions. The positive temperature coefficient of the fuse element causes a resistance increase (before opening), thus preventing a total short circuit of the current source. The components are approved for operation at temperatures between -55 and + 125 ° C. No current or voltage derating is required when operating in a vacuum.
With over 30 years in orbit with zero reported failures, AEM fuses have long been recognized and utilized by every major producer of satellites and spacecraft hardware. And now they are also recognized by the European Space Agency as a qualified parts provider.

AEM’s MIL-STD-790 and AS9100 certified facility in San Diego, Calif., will continue to provide unique component solutions to meet mission critical program needs.
